Short answer: A chlorine dosing pump technical specification is a document that defines, in measurable values, the flow rate, back pressure, control type, wetted part materials, protection rating, power supply and scope of supply of the pump required in a tender. A good specification does not describe a brand; it states the installation’s needs as “minimum” values. This page contains specification texts based on the catalogue values of the AnTech Nova, Lara, Optima and Nano series, ready to copy into tender documents, together with an acceptance checklist.
The technical values in the texts are taken from the AnTech 2025 Product Catalogue. No block contains a brand name; you can change the values in square brackets to suit your installation and remove clauses you do not need. Before writing a specification for a chlorine dosing pump, we recommend finding the required flow rate with our chlorine dosing calculator.
How to Write a Chlorine Dosing Pump Technical Specification
A specification is written backwards from the job the pump will do in the installation: first the required dosing flow rate and the line pressure at the injection point are determined, then the control method, materials and scope of supply. The table below summarises what to write in each clause and what to watch out for.
| Clause | What to write in the specification | Point to note |
|---|---|---|
| Flow rate | Maximum required dose, L/h | Always state the flow rate together with the back pressure; in an electromagnetic pump, flow increases as pressure falls. |
| Back pressure | Maximum line pressure at the injection point, bar | The pump’s maximum back pressure must be above this value. |
| Control type | Analogue, level control, timer, volumetric (water meter or 4–20 mA), pH/ORP measurement or free chlorine measurement | If the water flow varies during the day, do not specify a constant-rate analogue pump. |
| Wetted part materials | Pump head, diaphragm, balls, O-rings, suction and discharge assemblies | State the chemical and its concentration first, then specify the materials accordingly. |
| Protection rating | IP rating of the housing | All AnTech electromagnetic series have IP65 housings. |
| Power supply | Voltage and frequency; power consumption if required | If a wide voltage range is needed, state it separately. |
| Inputs and outputs | Level, flow, water meter and 4–20 mA inputs; alarm and 4–20 mA measurement output; communication protocol | If the pump will be connected to automation, state the signal type and protocol (e.g. ModBus RTU, RS485). |
| Level control | Level sensor and input for the chemical tank | Prevents dosing from stopping unnoticed when the tank runs empty. |
| Calibration | Capacity calibration; sensor calibration on measurement-controlled models | Add calibration solutions to the scope of supply separately. |
| Scope of supply | Suction and discharge assemblies, hoses, mounting kit, signal cable, electrode or sensor, housing | Measuring elements and signal cables are often separate items. |
When stating the flow rate, make sure the pump does not hit its capacity limit at peak demand; it must be possible to raise the pump setting when the solution concentration falls or consumption increases. State the line pressure from a measurement at the injection point, not an estimate.
How to Select Wetted Part Materials
The materials of the wetted parts are specified according to the chemical to be dosed and its concentration. The chemical resistance list in the Technical Documents section of the AnTech catalogue offers a starting point for the materials used in dosing pumps:
| Chemical | PVDF | PP | PVC | PTFE | FPM (Viton) | EPDM | PE | SS316 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sodium hypochlorite 12.5% | Resistant | Good | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Not resistant |
| Hydrochloric acid | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Not resistant | Resistant | Not resistant |
| Sulphuric acid 85% | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Resistant | Not resistant | Resistant | Good |
According to the list, stainless steel (SS316) is not resistant to sodium hypochlorite, and EPDM is not resistant to hydrochloric and sulphuric acid; EPDM O-rings should therefore not be specified for a pump dosing acid as a pH reducer. In AnTech electromagnetic pumps the diaphragm is PTFE and the standard O-rings Viton; on the Nova, Lara and Optima the head is PVDF. The suction and discharge assemblies are PVDF on the Nova and PP on the Lara, Optima and Nano; an option with a PVDF kit for the Lara is also listed in the catalogue. If your chemical is not in the list or its concentration differs, send us its name and concentration and we will check it together.

Mistakes to Avoid in a Specification
The most common mistake is writing the specification from a single product’s catalogue page rather than from the installation’s needs; this narrows competition and can lead to questions and objections during the tender.
- Stating a brand, model code or a name that belongs to only one product: Instead, state performance criteria such as flow rate, back pressure, control type, materials and protection rating as “minimum” values.
- Making weight, package dimensions or stroke rate mandatory: These values describe a particular housing, not the function. Do not include them unless they are genuinely required.
- Stating flow rate without pressure: The flow rate of an electromagnetic pump changes with back pressure. For example, according to catalogue values, a 10 L/h 10 bar Nova model delivers 20 L/h at 2 bar. Always state flow rate together with pressure.
- Specifying materials without stating the chemical: Stainless steel is not suitable for every chemical; according to the catalogue list, it is not resistant to sodium hypochlorite. State the chemical and concentration first, then the material.
- Specifying a constant-rate pump for a variable-flow line: If the water flow varies during the day, specify volumetric control with a water meter or measurement-based control; otherwise the water will sometimes receive too much chlorine and sometimes too little.
- Leaving measuring elements out of scope: The electrode, sensor, housing, calibration solution and signal cable of a measurement-controlled pump are often separate items. List them individually in the scope of supply.
- Specifying higher values than needed: Requiring a 20 bar pump on a 6 bar line, or a communication module that will not be used, increases cost for no reason.
- Using an unverified item number: In Turkish public tenders, an old item (poz) number or one taken from another list causes errors in the survey and offer documents.
How to Find the Item Number for a Chlorine Dosing Pump in Türkiye
In Turkish public tenders, the item (poz) for a chlorine dosing pump is found from its description in the unit price list used by the contracting authority. We do not give item numbers on this page; check the number in the authority’s unit price list. Send us the description from the list and we will check together which AnTech model meets its flow, pressure and control requirements; if you cannot find a suitable description, send us the values from your specification instead.
For survey and offer documents, the current chlorine dosing pump unit price of each model on our site is shown excluding VAT. Because prices are recalculated every day with the exchange rate, note the date on which you took the price. For a dated quotation, a data sheet or a multi-unit tender purchase, send your list of requirements through our contact page.
Acceptance and Commissioning Checklist
A delivered pump is first accepted by comparing it against the values in the specification, then commissioned on site by measuring its flow rate. You can use the list below as the basis for the acceptance report.
Delivery check
- Are the model and capacity (flow rate and back pressure) on the pump label the same as in the specification and the offer?
- Does the supply voltage on the label match the value in the specification?
- Is the scope of supply complete: suction and discharge assemblies, hoses, check valve or mounting kit, signal cable, electrode or sensor, housing, calibration solutions?
- Are the materials of the wetted parts the same as those stated in the offer?
- Are the packaging and pump housing undamaged?
Commissioning
- Has the pump been mounted close to the chemical tank, in an upright position, in a dry, ventilated place out of direct sunlight?
- Has the line pressure at the injection point been measured, and is it below the pump’s maximum back pressure?
- Has the pump been connected to an earthed circuit protected by a residual current device?
- Was the air bled at first start-up, and is the chemical arriving steadily?
- Has the flow rate been verified? The chemical drawn from a graduated container over a set time is measured and compared with the setting; on digital models, capacity calibration is done from the menu.
- On a level-controlled model, does the level sensor signal reach the pump?
- On a pH/ORP model, has the electrode been calibrated? The catalogue lists pH 4, pH 7 and pH 10 buffer solutions, and 225 mV and 475 mV ORP calibration solutions.
- On a free chlorine model, has the sensor reading been compared with a measurement taken with a portable instrument or test kit?
- If a 4–20 mA or ModBus connection was requested, is the value being read in the automation system?
- Have the settings, measured flow rate and calibration results been recorded in the report, and have the operating staff been shown how to use the pump?
If you would like us to carry out installation and commissioning, you can request our dosing pump installation and calibration and sensor replacement services.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should a chlorine dosing pump technical specification include?
Flow rate together with back pressure, the maximum line pressure at the injection point, control type, wetted part materials, protection rating, power supply, inputs and outputs, level control, calibration and scope of supply. The name and concentration of the chemical must always be stated as well.
Where can I find the item number for a chlorine dosing pump in Turkish public tenders?
In the unit price list used by the contracting authority. We do not give item (poz) numbers, because an unverified number can cause errors in the documents. Send us the description from the list and we will check together which model meets it.
Can a brand or model be named in the specification?
To avoid narrowing competition, we recommend stating performance criteria instead of brand and model names. The texts on this page were prepared with this approach; the AnTech models that comply are given under the blocks for information only.
Where were the values in the specification texts taken from?
From the feature lists, technical tables and chemical resistance list in the AnTech 2025 Product Catalogue. We did not write clauses for values that are not in the catalogue; if you need an additional value, ask us.
Should the sensor of a measurement-controlled pump be specified separately?
Yes. The electrode set on pH/ORP pumps, and the sensor and sensor housing on the free chlorine pump, are separate items from the pump. Also add calibration solutions and, if required, the signal cable to the scope of supply.
How is the flow rate of a delivered pump checked?
While the pump draws chemical from a graduated container, the volume drawn over a set time is measured and compared with the setting. On digital models, capacity calibration is done from the menu using the measured value. The result is recorded in the acceptance report.
